What The Referring Physician Needs To Know
  • Dehiscence of lamina papyracea may simulate medial blow-out fracture (Fig. 3)
  • Early nerve decompression is crucial if neural canal is compromised
  • Soft tissue swelling, or soft tissue emphysema, may mask asymmetries in underlying facial contour
  • Careful examination of osseous structures on CT is necessary to determine whether open repair will be necessary
