What The Referring Physician Needs To Know- Polypoid lesions on ultrasound or CT should be followed-up for 3-6 months, 1 to 2 years to ensure stability
- Segmental and focal forms of adenomyomatosis can be particularly difficult to differentiate from carcinoma
- Findings of adenomyomatosis at CT may not be diagnostic and follow-up with ultrasound may be necessary
- If findings of adenomyomatosis on ultrasound are equivocal, MR with MRCP is next best test
- There is increased incidence of gallbladder carcinoma in patients with segmental adenomyomatosis, therefore, these patients should be closely followed
