Axial, contrast-enhanced CT (Fig. 1) shows funneling of contrast in the cecum to the appendiceal orifice (i.e., arrowhead sign) and to the dilated appendix. A more inferior image (Fig. 2) shows a dilated, distended appendix with appendicoliths. In another patient, CT (Fig. 3) shows thickening of the base of the cecum, a dilated appendix, and periappendiceal inflammation. CT (Fig. 4) also shows a dilated appendix with an appendicolith.
